Old Engine 1
Old Engine 1 is a 1968 Maxim 1000 GPM (Gallons per Minute) Pumping Engine. It served our community from 1969 until 1999. It was a unique design for fire apparatus at that time because it was actually a structural pumping engine but it had four wheel drive capability for traversing the beach if necessary, and its exterior was steel plating instead of the usual sheet metal and enamel paint. This feature, combined with its four wheel drive capability, allowed it to provide service as a brush truck.
