Sheds/Accessory Structures
All sheds/accessory structures require a permit. The shed/accessory structure must not be placed within the set-backs of 15 feet side and rear of your property line and 25 feet from a right-of-way. If you are on a corner lot, the shed/accessory structure must not be placed within 25 ft from both right-of-ways.
[1]Sheds/Accessory Structures placed in Flood Hazard Areas shall comply with 780 CMR and require a Building Permit.

If the shed/accessory structure is 200 sq ft or less, then a Zoning Permit is required. To apply for a Zoning Permit, please submit the following:
- A Zoning Permit Application.
- Contractor License & insurance information on file with the Building Department (if applicable).
- A Worker's Compensation Affidavit.
- A Homeowner's Affidavit (if the applicant is the homeowner instead of a contractor).
- Two copies of the site plan showing where the shed will be built or placed.
- A brochure or drawing including dimensions.
- A $45.00 fee will be charged.
If the shed/accessory structure is larger than 200 sq ft then a Building Permit is required. To apply for a Building Permit, please submit the following:
- A Building Permit Application.
- Contractor License & insurance information on file with the Building Department.
- A Worker's Compensation Affidavit.
- A Homeowner's Affidavit (if the applicant is the homeowner instead of a contractor).
- Two copies of the site plan showing where the shed will be built.
- Two sets of framing plans.
- The fee will be $12.00 per thousand of the estimated cost with a minimum fee of $45.00.
