Certificates & Licenses

Birth/Death Certificates:

Certified Copies of Birth Certificates of residents born in or whose parents were living in Duxbury at the time of birth may be obtained from the clerk for a fee of $10.00 per copy.  If the record is restricted, an ID is required to obtain a copy of the birth record and it will only be provided to the parents or child listed on the record unless legal documentation states otherwise.

Certified Copies of Death Certificates of any person who dies in Duxbury or who dies elsewhere but was a resident of Duxbury at the time of death may be obtained from the clerk for a fee of $10.00 per copy.  

Marriage Licenses:

In Massachusetts, you may apply for a license in any city or town in MA and be married in that or any other city or town in MA.  Your license will be recorded in the city or town where the initial filing of the "Intention to Marry" was obtained and at the Massachusetts Registry of Vital Records and Statistics.  The earliest a license may be obtained is 60 days before the wedding, and the shortest time must allow for the 3 day waiting period between date of application and issuance of the marriage license.  The cost for filing the Marriage Intention is $30.00.

Justice of the Peace services can be attained thru our office. Happy to travel out of town as well.

To file an intention to marry, the couple must appear together.  

A Certified Copy of the Marriage Certificate is available for a $10.00 fee at the Town Clerk's Office.

Business Certificate (DBA Certificate):

The State of Massachusetts requires that parties doing business in a name other than their own obtain a Business Certificate.  The Business Certificate is valid for four years and costs $40.00.

Fishing, Hunting & Trapping Licenses:

Purchase a Massachusetts Freshwater Fishing, Hunting or Sporting License, Saltwater Fishing Permit, or Recreational Lobster Permit, through Authorized License Agents, Online, or by Phone.
