How You Will Be Notified of an Emergency

If there is an emergency requiring public notification, you will be alerted by one or more of the following ways:

Duxbury’s Rapid Dialing Telephone Service, Connect-CTY, notifies registered citizens by phone, email, pager, and/or fax. Listings are confidential and used for no other purpose than for town officials to notify citizens of important public information.

  • Broadcasts from loudspeakers on police and other official vehicles.
  • Beach loudspeakers
  • Announcements from town harbormasters or an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast from the U.S. Coast Guard.
  • Tone-alert Emergency Alert System radios.
  • A message on Teletypewriters (TTYs) if you have registered with a town Emergency Management Office to be notified over TTY in case of an emergency.
  • Word of mouth.

If you hear any of these, turn to one of the Emergency Alert System radio stations immediately.

  • Local EAS Stations
  • WBMX Boston 98.5 FM
  • WATD Marshfield 95.9 FM
  • WPLM Plymouth 99.1 FM
  • WPLM Plymouth 1390 AM

Check with your neighbors, especially the elderly or those who have difficulty hearing or seeing, to make sure they have received the warning and know what to do.
