2021 Economic Development Bond, Transportation Bond Bill & Climate Legislation

  1. A new Bond Bill (H5250) has been passed for Economic Development and Partnering in Massachusetts, which has a variety of impacts related to zoning, housing and grant eligibility for communities in the Commonwealth.  Rule-making and discussion of the meaning and interpretation of the legislation is ongoing, as with any new legislation, and information on changes and how they affect Duxbury and other communities is linked here.  Questions should be directed to housingchoice@mass.gov.
  2. Draft Guidelines for MBTA Communities requiring zoning for by-right multifamily housing are available at https://www.mass.gov/info-details/multi-family-zoning-requirement-for-mbta-communities.  Final guidelines are proposed for June of 2022.  Duxbury is affected by these regulations, and is currently in compliance for 2022.
  3. A new Transportation Bond Bill (H5248) has been signed into law, which provides some funding to the Duxbury Community - $250,000 for engineering/design at Exit 20; $400,000 for Powder Point Bridge repairs, some corridor and safety improvements on 3A in several towns.
