Community Services

The Community Services Program works to empower seniors and family caregivers to make informed life choice decisions by providing information, support, and guidance related to senior services and community resources.

Community Services staff are available to meet with seniors who are Duxbury residents and/or their family members.  Meetings may take place at their home, the Duxbury Senior Center or another community setting.

For more information or to schedule a free confidential appointment contact:

Donna Ciappina, LSW, Community Services Manager

Phone:  781-934-5774 ext. 5730

Email:  DonnaCiappina@duxburycoa.com

All Community Services staff are mandated reporters of elder abuse, neglect, and self-neglect.  If you suspect a senior is a victim of elder abuse, neglect or self-neglect or you are a victim of abuse, please contact the Elder Abuse Hotline at 1-800-922-2275.   You may also contact the Community Services staff to assist you with this process.

Caregiver Information
The Duxbury Senior Center provides family caregivers of seniors (age 60 plus) with pertinent information on senior services and community resources. We also assist caregivers in developing caregiver strategies and plans focused on quality care for the senior and self-care for the caregiver.  For more information, contact Community Services at 781-934-5774 ext. 5730 or 5731.

Support Groups
The Duxbury Senior Center offers “topic-specific” support groups.  These groups bring together people facing similar issues and encourage the sharing of experiences.   We can learn about new resources and strategies from each other, as well as, feel supported and less alone.  Our groups are typically facilitated by Duxbury Senior Center staff or community service professionals although some may be “peer led”.   For information about support groups at the Duxbury Senior Center or in the community, contact the Community Services Department at 781-934-5774 ext. 5730 or 5731.
