Marriage Intentions & Licenses

Marriage Intentions (Application to Marry):
- In Massachusetts, you may apply for a license in any city or town in the Commonwealth and then be married in that or any other city or town in the Commonwealth. Both Parties must appear together to file Intentions. The license will be recorded in the city or town where the initial filing of the "Intention to Marry" was obtained and at the Massachusetts Registry of Vital Records and Statistics.
- The earliest a license may be obtained is 60 days before the anticipated wedding date, and the shortest time must allow for the 3 day waiting period between date of application and issuance of the marriage license.
- Identification is required by both parties, which must be one of the following: certified birth record, current passport, life insurance policy, employment certification, certified baptismal record, immigration record, naturalization record or a court order.
- No appointment is needed except on Fridays, as the office is not open to the public, please call (781) 934 - 1133 ext. 5451.
- The cost for filing the Marriage Intention is $30.00 which includes (1) certified copy of Marriage Certificate.

Marriage Licenses: A certified copy of the Marriage Certificate is available for a $10.00 fee thru the Town Clerk's Office or can be obtained online: Obtain a Certified Copy of Marriage Certificate Online
