Summer Library Program 2026- Plant a Seed, Read

For kids ages birth-11, keep track of activity challenges through your paper log. We will be using a paper log exclusively this year. They are available to download through our website or printed out at the library.  Once 10 challenges have been completed, return your log to the children's room for a chance to win prizes.

Challenges can completed only once per day with the exception of reading for 1 hour. If you read for 5 hours, that's 5 circles filled in on the same day. 

Prizes this year include an RPS gift cards, Starland mini golf passes or a private pizza Lego party at the library. All logs must be handed in by August 15.

NEW THIS YEAR: DRAGONDECKS!

For every log that you complete, you have a chance to earn more Dragondeck cards. Cards are based on books and the library. Cards can be used in a "Pokemon" style. You can collect them, trade them with others or if you have enough to make a deck, you can battle them! 

For teens (grades 6-12), keep track of activity challenges with your bookmark. Get a punch every time you complete an activity. Once 10 punches have been completed, return your bookmark for a chance to win the prize. Challenges can be completed more than once.

For adults, Summer reading isn’t just for kids! Get bingo (5 in a row across or diagonal) and turn in your card to the prize raffle boxes. Submit as many bingo cards throughout the summer as you’d like!

FAQ

How do you draw kids' prizes?

When you have completed enough activity challenges for a raffle ticket (10), drop your log into one of the prize buckets. Remember to write down your contact information on the log. The more logs you complete, the more chances to win.  

How do you draw the teen prize?

When you have completed 10 punches, drop your bookmark off at the reference desk. Remember to write down your contact info on the bookmark. The more bookmarks you complete, the more chances to win.

How do you draw the adult prize?

When you get a bingo, drop your sheet into the prize box and a winner will be selected at the end of the summer. 

Do you need to be a Duxbury resident to play?

No - anyone is welcome to participate, but prizes must be picked up in person.

Can I read the same books again and again?

Yes! Count every time you read, even if it’s your favorite book again, and again, and again…

What kind of books can I read?

You can read anything you want. Magazines, newspapers, graphic novels and audio books count as reading.
