The goal of the Duxbury Council on Aging (COA) long-range plan is to ensure that the Duxbury Senior Center is a welcoming center where the community comes together so that all seniors can engage, enrich, and find a sense of purpose, enabling them to make connections that will foster their wellbeing and independence. In doing this we will carefully manage our resources and effectively communicate the importance of the Senior Center as a vital resource in Duxbury. In essence, we will provide the space and resources to enable people to live well and age well.

The following five goals will be the priority of the Duxbury Council on Aging Long Range Plan:

Provide a welcoming environment

Be the best in programming

Be a good steward of our resources

Communicate our message

Facilitate Independence

Goal # 1   Provide a Welcoming Environment
The Duxbury Senior Center will provide a welcoming environment where all seniors can regularly engage, enrich, connect and find a sense of purpose. We want to welcome all generations who visit the Center with an aesthetically pleasing, comfortable space with places to gather, socialize, and work together to enhance the lives of seniors. The Center will foster a sense of belonging and inclusiveness. In addition, we want to include outreach to homebound or isolated seniors in our community with initiatives to continue to make services and connections available to them.

Goal #2   Be a Leader in Program Development
The Duxbury Senior Center will continue to provide leading and inspiring programs to build communities and help people live well and age well, including programs in education, fitness, wellness, and technology. We will work to cultivate the volunteer model to provide seniors with opportunities for purposeful volunteer roles that will expand the breadth and depth of what the Center offers to the community. We will lead the way in creating an age-friendly community in Duxbury and be a resource and expertise on aging.

Goal #3   Manage our Important Resources
We will carefully and responsibly manage our most important resources, our employees, our volunteers, and our physical plant in order to meet and exceed the objectives in our Vision, Mission, and Goals.

Goal #4   Communicate our Message Effectively
We will effectively communicate to all key constituencies that we are a vital resource in Duxbury as a community-friendly center where all can come together to live well and age well. Communication will be targeted to attract participants, to build relationships in the community, and to attract potential volunteers and funding opportunities.

 Goal #5    Facilitate independence
The Duxbury Senior Center is committed to creating a culture that facilitates the independence of seniors and offers assistance to those who want to age in place and enabling each of us to better take care of ourselves.
