About

the YA Lounge

The Library. The Duxbury Free Library is located in Duxbury, MA. It shares a campus with Duxbury High School, Duxbury Middle School, Alden Elementary School, Duxbury Performing Arts Center, Duxbury Student Union, and Percy Walker Pool. The DFL is home to collections and programs for children, teens, and adults, as well as a Digital Media Lab.

The YA Lounge. The Young Adult Lounge is located on the upper level, behind the Reference Desk. It is home to the following circulating collections: fiction, nonfiction, biography, graphic novels, and periodicals. There are three study rooms for private use by patrons in eighth grade or above, as well as other seating and workspaces. There are board and card games, as well as art supplies, and Legos for teen use. Anime Club and the random movie night are held in the Lounge.

The Librarian. Meghan is your librarian. She will facilitate the programs and she is always open to new ideas. Meghan hails from Maryland so she may need a little help with the Massachusetts traditions and local spots. You can always look for her at the Reference desk or in her office (by the new YA books). Meghan has been working in libraries since she earned her Master's degree in Library Science in 2013. Before DFL she worked in Charles County, Maryland at a public library working with youth from birth - 18 years old. Meghan loves dogs, the supernatural, and grilled cheese. When she is not at work she plays board games with her husband and trains her young daughter to be a proud nerd.

You. Any patron can use the materials in the YA collection. Any patron can spend time in the YA Lounge. Programs held for teens in the Lounge will take precedence over use of the space. If you need help, library-related or not, please ask. Teen patrons are expected to act respectfully towards one another and other patrons of all ages. Any patron found to be disruptive in any way will be asked to leave the library and return another day. Moral of the story? Be a decent human. It’s a good rule of thumb.
