DUXBURY BEACH UPDATE

BEACH UPDATE – July 22, 2022

Hello Beach Patron, hope you are staying cool,

I am sending you this email so that you might have the most current information regarding the status of the crossovers.

AVIAN STATUS – INFORMATION FROM DBR

PLOVER STATUS:

Nests 0

Unfledged Broods 9

Fledged Broods 22

We are informed that 5 plover broods are located in front of the crossovers as of 7/20/22. We cannot re-open these crossovers until these final broods have fledged.

LEAST TERNS

There are least tern nests located within the area of the crossovers. DBR expects that these nests may impact the crossovers until early to mid-August.

I would remind everyone that these are wild animals and while there is much evidence/historical data about the timing of their fledging, nothing is concrete.

We hope that you will continue to be patient and we pledge to provide you with any new information as quickly as we can.
