Assessing Department

Mission Statement

The mission of Assessment Administration is to value real and personal property efficiently, fairly and accurately, in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; to administer motor vehicle/boat excise, exemption, and abatement programs; and to address concerns of members of the public quickly and courteously.

Cyclical Inspections

The Duxbury Assessor’s Office is conducting cyclical inspections of real estate properties, building permit inspections and new sales inspections over the next several months by going door-to-door to inspect both the interior and exterior of these properties. The inspectors Scott J. Timulty, Director of Assessing and Brian Miller, Assistant Assessor will be wearing Town Identification and their vehicles will be marked with the Town Seal.  If no one is home, the exterior of the property will be measured to verify our information and a tag listing our office phone number will be left on the door to let you know we visited and to offer the opportunity to call and set up an appointment for an interior inspection. The interior walk-through usually takes about 10-15 minutes.
