Beach Update – 9/15/2023

Due to potentially dangerous conditions from Hurricane Lee at the beach on Saturday 9/16, the Crossovers will be remained closed in the morning and will be assessed later in the day if they will be opened. Please check Beach Operations social media for any updates on the status of opening the Crossovers.

Crossover Hours and Access:

500 total vehicles (250 resident permit and 250 non- resident permit) allowed anywhere on the over sand beach. All three crossovers are open at this time.

Crossover Hours:
Friday and Saturday: 8:00 AM - 11:00 PM
Sunday- Thursday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM* (As of Sunday 9/17 Crossover closing will be 8:00pm)

Nighttime driving on the back road is now allowed.

Resident Parking Lot
As of Tuesday, 9/5 the lot is now open to the public and beach stickers are not required. 

Parking Lot Hours:
Friday thru Sunday: 8:00AM and 11:00PM
Weekday hours: 8AM to 10PM.
The Northern lot is now closed for the season.  

The posted speed limit is 15mph on beach property.

All crossovers allow LEASHED dogs only where vehicles are allowed and all dog rules apply.

Crossover Dune Posts
Please be aware that vehicles are not allowed west of any dune post in order to maintain the stability and integrity of the dunes. During high tides vehicles must either exit the beach or drive as close to the dune post as possible without going west of the post. Driving west of the post is prohibited and subject to fines and revocation of vehicle permit.


Porta Potties / Boardwalk / Mobility Mats / Ramps
The mobility mats, ramps off the boardwalk and stairs have been removed for the season due to impending storms.  Please access the beach at the foot paths.  Porta potties will be removed for the season starting October 2nd. Main Parking lot Porta potties will be removed on October 16th.


Dog Areas 
Starting tomorrow, September 16th, leashed dogs are allowed anywhere on the beach except for in the dunes.
