Back Road Access

This is a reminder that a permit is required to access the backroad for all vehicles that enter the OSV or to birdwatch. We have received multiple complaints about vehicles accessing the backroad without a permit. Beach rangers are doing patrols on the back road to check for permits. If you see any violations, please call the Beach Operations Manager at 781-934-1100 ext 5563.

Construction at Duxbury Beach

Here is an update from Duxbury Beach Reservation regarding the construction at the beach:

“Beginning now and over the coming weeks, truckloads of sand will head to Duxbury Beach in the first phase of this winter’s Pedestrian Beach Dune Nourishment project. With the influx of construction vehicles and machinery, we want to ensure the safety of everyone as they enjoy the beach. Here’s what you can expect:

·         Vehicle access south of the bridge is via the small parking lot (see diagram below).

·         Various pathways to the beach may be closed for work vehicle access - please use open pathways only!

·         Please drive slowly and watch for pedestrians. Never walk on the dunes unless on a designated pathway or with a Duxbury Beach Reservation representative.

·         Watch for trucks and construction vehicles entering and exiting work areas or crossing the roadway to access supplies.

·         Please respect beach rules and regulations and always park in lots or pull-outs - do not stop or pull over on the back road.

·         Stay off of all work equipment and out of restoration areas and staging areas, even when work is not taking place.”

For more information please go to their website: https://www.duxburybeachreservation.org/

Crossover Dune Posts
Please be aware that vehicles are not allowed west of any dune post in order to maintain the stability and integrity of the dunes. During high tides vehicles must either exit the beach or drive as close to the dune post as possible without going west of the post. Driving west of the post is prohibited and subject to fines and revocation of vehicle permit.
