DUXBURY BEACH OPERATIONS

BEACH UPDATE - 4/13/23

 

Hello Beach patron,
We hope this email finds you and your family well.  Below are a few important topics and updates.
 

NEW CROSSOVER HOURS

Starting Saturday, April 15th, Crossover hours will be as follows:

Monday thru Friday: 9:00am-6:00pm 
Saturday and Sunday:  8:00am-7:00pm

NOTE:  DUE TO THE NICE WEATHER FORECASTED FOR TOMORROW, FRIDAY APRIL 14TH, THE CROSSOVERS WILL BE OPEN UNTIL 7PM.

SOFT SAND @ CROSSOVERS

The sand is very soft at the exits of the crossovers.  Please make sure your vehicle is in 4WD and your tires are deflated to the proper levels prior to driving on and off the beach to avoid getting stuck.  Also please make sure your vehicle contains a shovel and tow strap.  Please CLICK HERE for the Rules and Regulations regarding this topic.


FENCE/VANDALISM ISSUES

There have been recent incidences of vandalism where individuals have pulled up the symbolic fencing of rebar and twine by the sand dunes.  This fencing was for the protection of wildlife and dunes. 

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to please contact the Beach Operations Department at 781-934-7034 (ext 2) or the Duxbury Police Department at 781-934-6565.

There was also a report of an illegal bonfire on the resident front beach.  This action is not allowed per the Rules and Regulations of Duxbury Beach usage.  Please CLICK HERE for these regulations.
 

DOGS ON BEACH

For those permit holders who are planning on bringing their dog to the beach, please remember these important reminders:

·         Dogs are allowed only on the bayside beach (behind the guard shack) at Powder Point Bridge.  They are also allowed on the over sand crossovers.  Owners can also walk their dogs on the access roads and in the parking lots.  DOGS MUST BE LEASHED AT ALL TIMES. 

·         All dogs are prohibited from the any other beach area, and dunes.

POWDER POINT BRIDGE REPAIRS

The Department of Public Works is overseeing this project and will notify us when the bridge will reopen.  We will pass along this information to beach patrons as soon as we receive it.
