DUXBURY BEACH OPERATIONS

BEACH UPDATE – 6/15/22

Hello beach patron hope this email finds you well. Below please find some information concerning the beach.

POWDER POINT BRIDGE SPEED LIMIT

As previously communicated, the speed limit on Powder Point Bridge is 10 MPH. We still have vehicles exceeding this posted limit. Please help the Town of Duxbury in its effort to maintain the bridge and keep to the posted limit. Thank you to Duxbury Police Department for the installation of the digital traffic board at the west end of the bridge with this important reminder.

PARKING LOTS and CROSSOVERS

As you are aware, all crossovers are currently closed. The resident parking lot is open to residents with a current sticker. The Northern Lot is open to non-residents with current sticker, dogs are not allowed in the Northern Lot. I have attached a map of the Northern Lot’s location for your information.

When I have some pertinent information about when the crossovers will re-open, I will pass it along promptly.

VANDALISM at the BEACH

This past week the beach was the scene of some serious vandalism. Signage was destroyed and a vehicle trespassed through a locked area into a restricted area. If anyone has any information concerning any of these or other incidents, please contact Beach Operations. Be advised that if and when the persons responsible are found they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent the law allows.

SWIMMING

With the water warming up it will soon be a time when swimming becomes more prevalent. A reminder that there are no lifeguards on the bayside beaches. Town of Duxbury Beach Lifeguards are on duty on weekends, in their area on the ocean side and will begin providing more coverage beginning the week of 6/20. At the time of this email, due to a lifeguard shortage there is a chance that we may not be able to provide lifeguard coverage on Monday’s or Tuesday’s. We are and have been working hard to try and resolve this situation. Know anyone that is certified and looking for a job???, please have them apply with the Town of Duxbury through the HR Department.

Hope to see you at the beach!
