Procedures for Locating Water Supplies
- Determine street address, owner’s name & parcel number of abutters at assessor’s office.
- Bring this list to the water department. Be prepared to leave it with that department until the next day. Call the water department the next day for results of their search (781) 934-1100.
- At the board of health office request files for the properties not on town water.
- Search files for as-built plans showing location of wells. If wells are not shown on the as-built plan, it is your responsibility to locate the abutters’ well. Copies of plans will be made for you @ $0.20 per copy.
- A certified letter must be sent to all abutters that have a drinking water well and their property lies within 150’ of the proposed soil absorption system, asking them to verify the location of the well. A locus plan should be included with the letter. Permits will not be issued until the board of health receives green cards.
