Water Main Flushing starts on Monday, April 13, 2026

The Duxbury Water Department will commence annual flushing of the water distribution system’s High Pressure Zone (northwest section of Town) on Monday April 13, 2026. Flushing activities will continue for several weeks. This work will be done during the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Additional updates will be posted on the Town News and a message board at the Transfer Station.

This activity will cause varying degrees of discolored water and pressure fluctuations. Water users should check both hot and cold water before use, especially for laundering purposes.

The flushing of water mains is a necessary function to improve water quality and maintenance to the water distribution system. The discolored water is caused by iron and manganese that are common to groundwater and accumulate in the pipes over time.
