Rules and Regulations

Facility/Locker Room Rules Lockers are available for all personal property.  Please bring your own lock for security.  The lock and personal property must be removed when you leave.  The Town of Duxbury and it’s employees are not responsible for lost or stolen property.

All swimmers are required to take a SHOWER and remove any band-aids, first aid tape, barrettes, etc. BEFORE entering the pool.

All males must use Men’s Locker Room.  All females must use Women’s Locker Room.  Mixed gender groups must use the Family Changing Room.

The pool office is for staff use only. Non-staff must be authorized by the Aquatics Supervisor or Recreation Director.  The office phone is for emergency use only. 

NO SMOKING in any area of the pool building.

NO glass containers are permitted in the pool building.  Plastic is acceptable.

Pool Deck Rules

ABSOLUTELY NO RUNNING ON DECK.

Running, pushing, throwing others into the pool, profane language or other rough play that may cause disturbance and danger are prohibited. 

Strollers, baby carriages, etc. are permitted on deck.  Food, drinks, and gum are not permitted in the pool or deck area at any time.  Alcoholic beverages and illicit substances are prohibited in the building and grounds of the pool.

Street Shoes and sneakers are not allowed on the pool deck.

All patrons shall conduct themselves in a manner that will not cause health or safety problems to other patrons.  Reasonable requests by staff must be adhered to by all patrons.

In the Water Rules

Parent/Guardians are responsible for the conduct of their children using this facility.  If a staff member has repeatedly warned a child about disobeying pool rules, the child will be asked to leave for the day.  Supervisors, lifeguards and Recreation Department staff are required to uphold and enforce all regulations.  PLEASE COOPERATE.

Children 9 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult dressed to swim, preferably in the water.  Any Non-swimmers must be accompanied by a responsible adult* in the water.  Parent/Guardians must be on deck or in the pool while watching their child.  Children are not allowed on the deck or in the pool during Lap Swim.  (*Adult is defined as a person 18 years or older, including baby-sitters.)

During General Swim, children are allowed to swim in the lap lanes when not occupied by an adult.  Lane lines will be removed at the lifeguard’s discretion.  NO hanging on lane lines.  No sitting on, lying on, diving over or swimming over the lane lines.

Only persons with proper bathing attire will be allowed in the pool.  Gym shorts, cut-offs, etc are prohibited.

Diapers are not allowed in the pool.  Rubber Pants and Swim Diapers are acceptable.

Persons having skin lesions, inflamed eyes, mouth, nose or ear discharges or having any type of bandage will not be permitted to use the pool.

Members will be held responsible for the conduct of their guests.

By State regulation, the lifeguard to swimmer ratio must be at a minimum 1:25 (or one lifeguard on duty for every 25 swimmers in the water).  The pool staff reserves the right to remove swimmers from the water or forbid swimmers from entering the water in order to insure compliance with the above-mentioned regulation.

Equipment Use in the Pool

Masks and snorkels may be used with permission from the lifeguard on duty.

Balls, rafts, inflatable rings/toys are allowed during General Swim with the permission of the lifeguard on duty.

Kickboards must be used properly.  Please do not sit, stand, jump or kneel on kickboards in the pool.

The use of SCUBA equipment and/or SCUBA diving is prohibited during General and Adult Swim.

The mentioned rules are for your safety and will be amended or supplemented, without notice, as situations warrant by facility management.

Violation of any rules and regulations may result in suspension or revocation of membership and guest privileges by the Recreation Director at the recommendation of the Aquatics Supervisor.
