Radon Testing Information

Radon Levels in Your Home - Obtain Your Free Test Kit Today

Did you know that the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) recommends that all homes be tested for radon? Nearly 1 of every 15 homes in the US is estimated to have elevated radon levels that exceed the EPA action guideline of 4 pCi/L.

Radon is a radioactive gas that comes from the ground - it moves up through your foundation and gets trapped inside your home.

Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in people who never smoke, and the second leading cause of lung cancer overall.

Testing the air in your home is the only way to know if your home has radon. And now you can test your home for FREE simply by contacting the MDPH Indoor Air Quality Program - Radon Information Line at (800) 723-6695 (Toll Free in MA) or (413) 784-9352 or by email at DPHIAQ.radon@mass.gov to obtain your FREE TEST KIT! *Please note that you must have a phone conversation before obtaining the testing kits to verify how many may be needed and how to use the kits.*

RADON FACT SHEET

Test Kits are NOT available at your local Board of Health office. You must call or email as noted above to obtain your free kit so that they can discuss with you proper location for testing, how to submit your kit to the lab (which is also free!) and other things to consider as you go through this process.
