Dog Licenses / Kennels

*DOG LICENSE LATE FEES start April 1st for all unlicensed dogs. Payment can be made online Click Here (In addition, payment can be made in person or via US mail along with the application Click Here)

In accordance with the provisions of MGL Ch. 140, § 137 & 137A and the Town of Duxbury General Bylaws, all dogs (6) months of age and older must have a current rabies vaccination and licensed within the Town. Dog Licenses are renewed annually starting in January. (A reminder notice is included with your Census mailer).

*A LATE FEE OF $25 PER DOG, in addition to the license fee, will be assessed on April 1st as approved by the Board of Selectmen in November 2019(Late fees do not apply for new residents or newly acquired dogs.

Licenses may be purchased in the following ways:

  • TOWN CLERK’S OFFICE: During regular business hours

FEES:

  • Spayed / Neutered  $12.00
  • Female / Male         $17.00
  • Tags are complimentary to Duxbury residents 70 years of age and older

**If the dog is no longer a member of your household, please call our office or send an email to DuxburyTownClerk@duxbury-ma.gov and we will update your record.

KENNELS:

If a residence has five or more dogs (regardless of ownership), a Personal Kennel Application Click here must be filed with the Town Clerk's Office prior to issuance of licenses.

Kennels, both Personal (5+ dogs) and Commercial, must be inspected by the Animal Control Officer prior to issuance of the annual license(s). 

Kennel license fees range from $75 - $250 depending on the type of kennel and number of dogs.
